The EMD SD70M-2 is a six-axle, DC traction freight locomotive built by Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) between 2005 and 2015, powered by a 4,300-horsepower, 16-cylinder 710G3C diesel engine. It is the DC-traction counterpart to the SD70ACe and was purchased by customers like Norfolk Southern, Florida East Coast, and Canadian National. The "SD" in its name stands for "Special Duty," indicating a heavier-duty locomotive, and the "2" signifies an evolution of the prior SD70 design.

It is part of EMD's ACE family of locomotives. The "M" in some EMD models (like SD70MAC) can mean a wide-cab design, while the "2" on the SD70M-2 indicates it is an enhanced model.
