#4005 - Shortly after WWII ended, a threat of a coal strike prompted the design staff to experiment with oil firing a Big Boy. Number 4005 was selected for the test. Although the crews said it was the best firing locomotive on the system burning oil, the railroad decided not to convert the fleet. Our model will feature the special oil compartment built in Cheyenne for the tender and all of it’s oil burning details.
